Football Recap: Murfreesboro Takes a Loss

After flying high against Genoa Central last Friday, Murfreesboro came back down to earth. The Rattlers lost 48-22 to the Gurdon Go-Devils on Friday. The Rattlers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Go-Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Uriah Gatlin produced another solid performance rushing for 147 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.4 yards per carry, and also picking up 31 receiving yards for Gurdon. With that strong performance, Gatlin is now averaging an impressive 106 rushing yards per game. Another rusher making a difference was Eric Hughes, who rushed for 68 yards and two touchdowns.

Murfreesboro's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Gurdon, the victory also got them back to even at 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Murfreesboro will head out to take on Foreman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rattlers will be up against the Gator Arkansas' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.75 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Gurdon, they are taking a road trip to face off against Lafayette County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Go-Devils will be up against the Cougars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 33.25 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
