Basketball Recap: Somerset Prep Falls Despite Big Games from Chardae Rumph and Isyss Mims

If Somerset Prep was feeling good fresh off their 62-29 takedown of Cypress Bay on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Somerset Prep took a 51-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Somerset Academy - Canyons Cougars on Saturday. Somerset Prep was up 28-14 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Somerset Prep's loss came despite strong showings from Isyss Mims and Chardae Rumph. Mims dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 boards, while Rumph posted 11 points. Mims is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Stoker, who had four points and six boards.

Somerset Prep's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Somerset Academy - Canyons, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a massive bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Somerset Prep will challenge Miami Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Somerset Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.7 points per game this season. As for Somerset Academy - Canyons, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Somerset Academy - Canyons Cougars face off against the King's Academy Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. King's Academy will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Somerset Academy - Canyons surely won't give up without a fight.
