Basketball Recap: Henry Robinson Jr's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pine Ridge over New Smyrna Beach

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Pine Ridge can now relate to. They fell 71-60 to the New Smyrna Beach Barracudas on Friday. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Barracudas recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Henry Robinson Jr, who dropped a double-double with 27 points and 11 boards. Robinson Jr has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last 11 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Wilmer De La Rosa, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Mikey Steward was his usual excellent self, putting up 20 points and five boards for New Smyrna Beach. Tyler Mcknight was another key player, going 6 of 13 to rack up 16 points.

Pine Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 9-18. As for New Smyrna Beach, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.

Pine Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for New Smyrna Beach, they will square off against Lecanto at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Lecanto sitting on eight straight wins and New Smyrna Beach on five.
