Softball Recap: Warwick's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Warwick dropped their record down to 7-9 on Thursday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Poquoson Islanders, falling 12-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Raiders have suffered since May 16, 2024.

As for Poquoson, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games.

For Poquoson's part, they got a great performance from Natalie Klochak as she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Alyssa Laney was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two triples, and one run. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Mason, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Coming up, Warwick will welcome Hampton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders are facing the Crabbers at the right time seeing as the Crabbers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Poquoson, they will take on Bruton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
