Alex Hernandez and Luis Rodriguez secure win for Harlingen

Recap: Harlingen Cardinals vs. Miller Buccaneers

The Harlingen Cardinals entered their tilt with the Miller Buccaneers with 18 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 19. Harlingen came out on top against Miller by a score of 72-60 on Tuesday. Given Harlingen's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while Miller is ranked 637th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Harlingen was led to victory by Alex Hernandez and Luis Rodriguez. Hernandez scored 13 points, while Rodriguez scored 18 points. Andrew Galdamez was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

Harlingen pushed their record up to 24-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Miller, their loss ended a 14-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-8.

Harlingen will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on San Benito at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. As for Miller, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gregory-Portland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
