Softball Game Preview: Jefferson Bulldogs vs. Chapel Hill Red Devils

For the first time this season, Jefferson will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Friday. They will head out on the road to challenge the Chapel Hill Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. Jefferson has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Jefferson is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They came up short against White Oak, falling 13-3. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by exactly ten runs.

Jefferson saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rayleigh Gulk, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. That double marked the first that Gulk hit this season.

Meanwhile, Chapel Hill suffered their biggest defeat since February 29, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 13-4 to Pleasant Grove.

Lily Oglesby was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Brady, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Chapel Hill's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Jefferson, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Jefferson came out on top in a nail-biter against Chapel Hill when the teams last played back in February of 2019, sneaking past 2-0. Will Jefferson repeat their success, or does Chapel Hill have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
