Basketball Game Preview: Brevard HEAT Firehawks vs. Halifax Academy Knights

Brevard HEAT hasn't had much luck against Halifax Academy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Brevard HEAT Firehawks will be home for the holidays to greet the Halifax Academy Knights at 7:30 p.m. After both made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.

Brevard HEAT is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to Innovation Montessori for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-32 victory. The team ran away with 53 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the win.

Brevard HEAT's win on Saturday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Riley Ellis, who went 8 of 9 on his way to 20 points and four steals. Ellis has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Roberto Cosa, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 20 points and three steals.

Brevard HEAT was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Halifax Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past Florida School for the Deaf & Blind 69-41 on Tuesday. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 22 points or more this season.

Halifax Academy's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31.3 points. As for Brevard HEAT, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-6.

Brevard HEAT took a serious blow against Halifax Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2017, falling 78-50. Can Brevard HEAT avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
