Football Recap: Screven County Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Screven County strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against the Jenkins County War Eagles as they made off with a 35-14 victory. This was payback for the Gamecocks, who suffered a 34-7 loss the last time these two teams met.

Screven County was led to victory by AB Hilton and Demarko Ward. Hilton rushed for 188 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry, while Ward rushed for 78 yards and three scores. Ward really tore up the turf during one magnificent 78-yard run.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Screven County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 275 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 183 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Screven County's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Breylon Daniels and Azlan Courtney, who each picked up 0.5 sacks apiece.

Screven County's record now sits at 5-0. As for Jenkins County, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Hilton and Anddreas McKinny. Meanwhile, Jenkins County is set to take on their familiar foe McIntosh County Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
