Softball Recap: Wickliffe Find Success

Wickliffe came out on top against Chagrin Falls on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Blue Devils had just enough and edged out the Tigers 5-3. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

Leigha Blazetic spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Amanda Peklay was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Madelyne Prosuch, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

The win got Wickliffe back to even at 9-9. As for Chagrin Falls, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-9.

Looking ahead, Wickliffe will be playing at home against Perry at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Blue Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Chagrin Falls does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
