Basketball Recap: Silex Owls vs. Van-Far Indians
The Silex Owls's and the Van-Far Indians's match on Wednesday was close at halftime, but the Silex Owls turned on the heat in the second half with 31 points. Silex was the clear victor by a 53-33 margin over the Indians. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Silex also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Van-Far's loss came despite strong showings from Elliott Utterback and Carmen Wilburn. Utterback scored 15 points along with two steals, while Wilburn scored 11 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Wilburn also posted two blocks for the first time this season.
Silex's victory bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Van-Far, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.
Silex is on the road again on Friday and plays the Thunderbirds at 4:30 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully North Callaway focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday. As for Van-Far, they will head out on the road to face off against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Montgomery County will be looking to keep their nine-game home win streak alive.
