Recap: Finneytown Wildcats vs. DePaul Cristo Rey
The Finneytown Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their eighth straight defeat. Their rough 60-38 loss to DePaul Cristo Rey might stick with them for a while. Finneytown was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as DePaul Cristo Rey apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Britain Starks was his usual excellent self, scoring 30 points for DePaul Cristo Rey. That makes it four consecutive games in which Starks has scored at least a third of DePaul Cristo Rey's points. Another player making a difference was Issa Koita, who scored 13 points.
Finneytown has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for DePaul Cristo Rey, their win bumped their record up to 7-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Finneytown will take on Wyoming at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Finneytown will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 602nd, while Wyoming is ranked 40th). As for DePaul Cristo Rey, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Immaculate Conception Academy at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th.
