Softball Recap: Calallen Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Calallen had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Bishop Badgers as they made off with a 12-1 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.

Jordyn Thibodeaux was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Bianca Gonzales looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Brookelynn Meador was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Kylie Butcher was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI.

Calallen was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Calallen's victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs over those games. As for Bishop, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.

Looking ahead, Calallen will square off against Barbers Hill at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Calallen will be hoping to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Bishop, they will challenge Miller at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday.
