Basketball Recap: Somerset Academy Key Comes Up Short

Somerset Academy Key easily dispatched Avant Garde Academy back in December of 2024, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Somerset Academy Key Lions fell just short of the Forest Hill Falcons by a score of 60-58 on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 61-56 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2023.

Forest Hill found their leader in freshman Angel Ortiz, who went 8 of 12 on his way to 23 points. The match was Ortiz's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Da'Quan Anderson, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

Somerset Academy Key has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Forest Hill, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.

Somerset Academy Key didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-45 loss against American Heritage on the 9th. As for Forest Hill, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 62-60 defeat against Spanish River on the 8th.
