Softball Recap: Artesia Comes Up Short

Artesia managed to slip by Whitney the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Pioneers lost 18-12 to the Wildcats on Tuesday. The Pioneers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 16-14.

Kaleyse Foster stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Paulina Nava, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Artesia's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Whitney, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-9 record.

Artesia and Whitney will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Pioneers see the field they'll take on Oxford Academy at 3:15 p.m. on the 29th. As for Whitney, their break will end when they face Cerritos at 3:15 p.m. on the 29th.
