Softball Game Preview: Hamilton Broncs vs. Havre Blue Ponies

The Hamilton Broncs will challenge the Havre Blue Ponies at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday. Hamilton's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Havre's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Hamilton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Montana's top teams: Laurel, who was ranked 16th at the time (Hamilton was ranked sixth). The Broncs fell 7-4 to the Locomotives on Friday. The Broncs' loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.

Polson hit Havre with a four-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blue Ponies took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates. The Blue Ponies haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Bree Hanson made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Kuszmaul, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Hamilton's defeat dropped their record down to 16-2. As for Havre, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.

Hamilton was able to grind out a solid win over Havre when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 5-2. Do the Broncs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Ponies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
