Softball Recap: Sacred Heart Academy Comes Up Short

Sacred Heart Academy was the 3-1 winner over Mount St. Mary Academy when they last played one another last Monday, but their luck changed this time around. The Sharks took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Thunder on Wednesday.

Emma Popp spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Sloan Rhoney was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Rose Ciocca, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Sacred Heart Academy now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Mount St. Mary Academy, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-4.

Sacred Heart Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 5-2 loss against Nardin Academy on the 8th. As for Mount St. Mary Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-0 defeat against St. Mary's on the 8th.
