It was a good run, but Lumpkin County unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Athens Academy Spartans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indians of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Lumpkin County's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Athens Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.

Coming up, Lumpkin County will face off against Pickens at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Athens Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against East Jackson on the 21st.
