Suggested Video

The North DeSoto Griffins are headed away from home for the first time to face off against the Center Roughriders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

North DeSoto is headed out to face Center after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. North DeSoto walked away with a 33-21 victory over Union Parish on Friday.

A big part of the win came down to the chemistry between Luke Delafield and his top target Cole Cory. Delafield threw for 318 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75.9% of his passes while Cory picked up 196 receiving yards. Cory torched the secondary when he pulled down a catch that went for 70 yards.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, North DeSoto was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 574 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Union Parish only gained 307.

Meanwhile, Center got the win against Spring Hill on Friday by a conclusive 49-28. Given the Roughriders' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 198th, while the Panthers are ranked 636th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Center had a senior duo take command as Travis Belin threw for 427 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 12.9 yards per attempt and Timothy Johnson picked up 294 receiving yards and four touchdowns. With that strong performance, Belin is now averaging an impressive 348 passing yards per game. Jeremiah Ratcliff was another key player, picking up 128 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

North DeSoto didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Center in their previous meeting back in September of 2023, but they still walked away with a 57-52 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for North DeSoto since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
