Baseball Game Preview: Byron Bears vs. Pine Island Panthers

The Byron Bears are taking a road trip to face off against the Pine Island Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Byron is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

On Tuesday, Byron came up short against Lourdes and fell 8-5. That's two games in a row now that the Bears have lost by exactly three runs.

Cotter hit Pine Island with a six-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers fell 8-4 to the Ramblers.

Landon Lowrie was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Nick Thein, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Pine Island now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Byron, they now also have a losing record of 6-7.

Byron couldn't quite get it done against Pine Island when the teams last played back in April of 2025 as they fell 4-1. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
