Baseball Recap: Desert Vista Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Desert Vista came tearing into Tuesday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Westwood Warriors. The Thunder have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Warriors, too.

Hagen Haefs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sammy Skinner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Garrison, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Desert Vista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .576 or higher in three consecutive games.

Desert Vista's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Westwood, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.

Coincidentally, Desert Vista and Westwood will both be playing Valley Christian the next time they take the field. Westwood will head out to face Valley Christian at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Desert Vista will head out to face them at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
