Basketball Recap: Academy of the New Church Lions vs. Malvern Prep Friars
The Academy of the New Church Lions waltzed into their contest on Saturday with five straight wins but they left with six. They managed a 61-57 victory over Malvern Prep. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Academy of the New Church got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Bahsil Laster out in front who scored 24 points. Another player making a difference was Ryan Warren, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
Academy of the New Church pushed their record up to 18-4 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Malvern Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Academy of the New Church will stay at home for another game and welcome the at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th. One thing working in Friends Select's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten games. As for Malvern Prep, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Quakers at 7:00 p.m. William Penn Charter has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests.
