Basketball Recap: Western Christian Takes a Loss + How To Watch

If Western Christian was feeling good fresh off their 95-24 takedown of Norton Science & Language Academy on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Fighting Lancers took a 69-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Webb Gauls on Friday. The Fighting Lancers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gauls apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Western Christian still got an impressive performance from Bryce Benavidez, who posted 25 points along with five assists and four steals. With that strong performance, Benavidez is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Another player making a difference was Jacob Bartholomew, who scored 11 points.

Webb's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ethan Hao led the charge by shooting 53% from the field en route to 25 points. Hao's big performance that evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 20 points. Nick Wang was another key player, going 9-for-20 to rack up 26 points.

As for Webb, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-46 loss against Sierra Vista on the 6th.
