Basketball Recap: Pearsall's Undefeated Season over After Five Games

Pearsall was the 63-62 winner over Cigarroa when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Mavericks took a 63-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Toros on Friday. The loss was the Mavericks' first of the season.

Loss or not, Pearsall got some senior leadership from Devin Castillo and Ayden Rodriguez. Castillo shot 64% from the field on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds, while Rodriguez dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards. Rodriguez is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last ten games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Jeremy Rodriguez, who went 7-for-14 en route to 16 points.

Pearsall's defeat dropped their record down to 4-1. As for Cigarroa, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Pearsall wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 71-61 loss against Jones on the 21st. As for Cigarroa, they have also already played their next contest, a 74-57 defeat against Cole on the 21st.
