Softball Recap: Riverton Wins High-Profile Match Against Syracuse

Riverton faced Syracuse in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Silverwolves blew past the Titans 19-5. The win was nothing new for the Silverwolves as they're now sitting on three straight.

Kaelyn Flynn looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Jaydan Bushman and Grace Leary did most of the damage at the plate: Bushman went 2-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles, while Leary went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Bushman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aspen Roberts, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Riverton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Syracuse only posted an OBP of .450.

Riverton pushed their record up to 16-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Syracuse, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6.

Riverton didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 15-0 win against Weber on the 19th. As for Syracuse, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 10-3 defeat against Westlake on the 19th.
