Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Geneva

After losing to Trinity Prep the last time they met, Geneva decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Knights blew past the Saints 7-1 on Tuesday. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by six runs or more this season.

Michael Scott tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Matthew Morales was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Those stolen bases marked the first that he has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Stokes, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Geneva always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trinity Prep only posted an OBP of .269.

The win keeps Geneva at an undefeated 4-0. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average this season. As for Trinity Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Geneva will square off against Circle Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Centurions have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season. As for Trinity Prep, they will take on Orangewood Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
