Marquette Catholic fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Braves 51-47. The Blazers' loss signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Marquette Catholic lost, don't look at Laniah Davis. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 30 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was Davis' ninth in a row with at least ten points.

Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Robyn Pate out in front who went 6 of 12 on her way to 16 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Miller, who posted 11 points.

Marquette Catholic's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-3. As for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-5.

Marquette Catholic will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hammond Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. As for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory, they will face off against Zionsville at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
