Basketball Recap: La Porte Comes Up Short

La Porte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Valparaiso Vikings 72-21. While losing is never fun, the Slicers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 380th, while the Vikings are ranked 104th).

It was another big night for Lillian Barnes, who went 11 for 12 on her way to 25 points in addition to six boards and six steals for Valparaiso. That makes it six consecutive games in which Barnes has scored at least a third of Valparaiso's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cady Ofman, who went 6 of 15 on her way to 14 points.

La Porte's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Valparaiso, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

La Porte has already played their next match, a 59-44 defeat against Concord on the 7th. As for Valparaiso, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-42 win against Elkhart on the 7th.
