Basketball Recap: Pusch Ridge Christian Academy Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

After flying high against Nogales last Friday, Pusch Ridge Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Pusch Ridge Christian Academy Lions fell 70-60 to the Sabino Sabercats on Tuesday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (57), the Lions still had to take the loss.

Pusch Ridge Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Santino Almazan, who went 7 of 12 en route to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah McKinney, who posted 12 points and six rebounds.

Sabino's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brendan Gargus led the charge by going 10 for 15 on his way to 26 points. Chris Herndon was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to seven assists and five boards.

Pusch Ridge Christian Academy's loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-9. As for Sabino, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-4.

Pusch Ridge Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-48 defeat against Palo Verde on the 17th. As for Sabino, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, an 84-71 victory against Empire on the 17th.
