Basketball Game Preview: Carlton/Wrenshall vs. South Ridge Panthers

Carlton/Wrenshall will face off against the South Ridge Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Carlton/Wrenshall has struggled recently with seven losses in a row, while South Ridge will arrive with three straight victories.

Last Thursday, Carlton/Wrenshall had to suffer through a 58-24 loss at the hands of Mesabi East. While losing is never fun, Carlton/Wrenshall can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 381st, while Mesabi East is ranked 142nd).

Meanwhile, South Ridge blew past Fond du Lac Ojibwe O, posting a 65-34 win. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 26 points or more this season.

South Ridge has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.6 points per game. As for Carlton/Wrenshall, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.

Carlton/Wrenshall came up short against South Ridge in their previous meeting last Friday, falling 52-39. Can Carlton/Wrenshall avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
