Baseball Recap: Riverview Beats Apollo Ridge for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Riverview won the last time they faced Apollo Ridge and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Raiders walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Vikings. The win was familiar territory for the Raiders, who have now won four games in a row.

Lukas Duncan made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one double.

In other batting news, Riverview let Rece Stempfer and Eli DeVita run wild. Stempfer scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while DeVita scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. Stempfer has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Johnny Bertucci, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Riverview pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Apollo Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverview will welcome Brentwood at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Apollo Ridge, they will host Leechburg at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Devils' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
