Preview: McQueen Lancers vs. Galena Grizzlies
McQueen is 10-0 against Galena since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The McQueen Lancers will be home for the holidays to greet the Galena Grizzlies at 12:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (McQueen is ranked 47th, while Galena is ranked 67th).
McQueen scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They walked away with a 49-37 victory over Reed. That 49-37 margin sets a new team best for McQueen this season.
McQueen got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Caitlin Hilson out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. Hilson continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaleigh Fred, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Galena's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 51-50 to South Tahoe. The game was a 22-22 toss-up at halftime, but Galena was outscored by South Tahoe in the second.
McQueen is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 3-4 record this season. As for Galena, they bumped their record down to 1-7 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
McQueen strolled past Galena in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 36-19. Does McQueen have another victory up their sleeve, or will Galena turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
