Softball Recap: Rancho Cotate Gets the Win

While Rancho Cotate's victory against Analy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cougars had just enough and edged out the Tigers 6-5 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won eight in a row.

Madisyn Guinn looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Leila Figoni, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Jessica Wilmes was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.

Rancho Cotate was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are 9-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Rancho Cotate's record now sits at 13-10. As for Analy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.

Rancho Cotate will challenge Maria Carrillo at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pumas have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. Analy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
