Soccer Game Preview: Mariner vs. Steinbrenner

The Mariner Tritons will face off against the Steinbrenner Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Mariner comes in on 15 and Steinbrenner on four.

Mariner's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Thursday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over Riverdale. The Tritons' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four contests.

Gabriel Garcia was the driving force of Mariner's attack as he scored both of Mariner's goals, bringing his season total up to eight goals.

Meanwhile, Steinbrenner made easy work of Jefferson on December 10th and carried off a 6-0 win. Considering the Warriors have won five games by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Steinbrenner has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-3-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those seven contests. As for Mariner, they pushed their record up to 15-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road.
