Volleyball Recap: Woodcreek Takes Down Elk Grove in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Woodcreek walked away with it. They blew past the Elk Grove Thundering Herd 3-0 on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Timberwolves sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

While Woodcreek won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 30-28, 25-16.

Their offense was headlined by Kashton Claiborne and Brody Krupp, who picked up 12 kills apiece. They got some help from Jacob Smith and his 18 assists. Finally, Yaro Yurchak kept Woodcreek's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Woodcreek's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-7. As for Elk Grove, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-15 record this season.

Woodcreek will face off against Nevada Union at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Elk Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
