Baseball Game Preview: Cary Imps vs. Green Level Gators

The Cary Imps will venture away from home to square off against the Green Level Gators at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Cary has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Green Level will arrive with four straight wins.

Cary lost 8-1 to Holly Springs on Wednesday.

Cary saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Oates, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Green Level was able to grind out a solid victory over Cary on Monday, taking the game 10-5. That's two games straight that the Gators have won by exactly five runs.

Henry Geiser made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Gavin Rower was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Green Level's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Ben Bernard, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Cary's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Green Level, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Cary came up short against Green Level in their previous matchup on Monday, falling 10-5. Can Cary avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
