Baseball Recap: Alamosa Has No Trouble Against Brush

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Alamosa walked away with it. They blew past the Brush Beetdiggers 8-2 on Saturday. This was a revenge game for the Mean Moose: when they faced off against the Beetdiggers back in March, they had to take a 12-2 defeat.

Xavier Lujan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Alamosa's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 7-12 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Tony Griego was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Carlos Garcia was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

Alamosa's victory bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Brush, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-11 record this season.

As of now, neither Alamosa nor Brush have any future games scheduled.
