Softball Game Preview: Adamsville Cardinals vs. Hardin County Tigers

Adamsville is 2-7 against Hardin County since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cardinals will look to defend their home field against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Neither Adamsville nor Hardin County posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Adamsville took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Scotts Hill, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cardinals never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cardinals have posted since March 7th.

The result came thanks to Sophie Edwards's shutout, as she gave up just three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Adamsville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Belton, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Hardin County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 8-2 to Lexington.

Adamsville pushed their record up to 9-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hardin County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
