Soccer Game Preview: Marist vs. Carmel

Marist is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Saturday. They will look to defend their home pitch against the Carmel Corsairs at 12:00 p.m. Marist's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Marist took a three-goal defeat the last time they faced off against Saint Ignatius College Prep, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The RedHawks never let the Wolfpack get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Wednesday. Marist wouldn't have won without Sofia Wilson, who scored the game-winner.

Meanwhile, after soaring to four goals the game before, Carmel was a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They lost 5-0 to Warren Township. The loss continues a trend for Carmel in their meetings with Warren Township: they've now lost six in a row.

Having lost for the first time this season, Carmel fell to 2-1. As for Marist, their win bumped their record up to 5-1-1.
