Basketball Recap: Liberty Union Comes Up Short

If Liberty Union was riding high fresh off their 79-22 takedown of Cristo Rey last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Liberty Union Lions took a 68-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hamilton Township Rangers on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while the Rangers are ranked 26th).

Jovon McBride continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hamilton Township, going 10 for 23 on his way to 25 points in addition to eight assists and six boards. That makes it five consecutive games in which McBride has scored at least a third of Hamilton Township's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas King, who shot 4-for-5 from deep and dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.

Liberty Union's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Hamilton Township, their victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.

When Liberty Union and Hamilton Township next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Liberty Union will try to stop Grove City Christian's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Hamilton Township will try to stop Circleville's five-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
