Baseball Recap: Galesburg Drops Season-High Score on Reed-Custer

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Galesburg). They were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over the Reed-Custer Comets on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Alex Ritchie looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Galesburg got a massive performance out of Caleb Claeys, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Claeys a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jameson Dickerson, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Galesburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

With the win, Galesburg broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-16. As for Reed-Custer, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-12.

Galesburg wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 5-1 loss against St. Joseph-Ogden on the 10th. As for Reed-Custer, they have also already played their next game, a 10-0 victory against Lisle on the 12th.
