Recap: Pine Crest Panthers vs. Mater Lakes Academy Bears
The Pine Crest Panthers and the Mater Lakes Academy Bears squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly the Pine Crest Panthers had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the Bears on the road and fell 81-43. Pine Crest's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Despite the defeat, Pine Crest saw an underclassman step up: Rowan Hoffman scored ten points.
Mater Lakes Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Anthony Knowles out in front who scored 14 points along with six assists. Braylon Burbridge was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Pine Crest's loss dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Mater Lakes Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.
Pine Crest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mater Lakes Academy is on the road again on Saturday and plays Cardinal Gibbons at 6:00 p.m. on February 10th. Cardinal Gibbons has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 968 points over their last 15 matches.
