North Duplin is a perfect 10-0 against Hobbton since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Rebels will head out on the road to take on the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. North Duplin is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
North Duplin saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They lost 11-1 to Midway.
North Duplin saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Graham, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Hobbton faced off against Neuse Charter on Tuesday. The Wildcats never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.
Kasey Lee made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lathan Warren and Ayden Lawson did most of the damage at the plate: Warren went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Lawson earned two runs and two stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Braxton McLamb, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Hobbton hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 11 consecutive contests.
Hobbton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for North Duplin, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. North Duplin has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hobbton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
North Duplin skirted past Hobbton 3-2 when the teams last played last Wednesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rebels since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
