Baseball Game Preview: Princeton Day Panthers vs. Bound Brook Crusaders

The Princeton Day Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the Bound Brook Crusaders at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Princeton Day can't be too worried about heading out to take on Bound Brook: they just beat Hightstown at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Panthers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Rams a 1-0 shutout on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Bound Brook was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Manville. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Crusaders have suffered against the Mustangs since April 12, 2022.

Ryan Cunha put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 5.1 innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only five hits, the fewest he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season.

Cunha wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Boehm, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Boehm has brought in this season.

Princeton Day's win bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Bound Brook, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.

Everything went Princeton Day's way against Bound Brook when the teams last played last Wednesday, as Princeton Day made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
