Baseball Recap: Rancho Christian Takes a Loss

Rancho Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Summit Storm. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered since May 10, 2024.

Spencer Horner was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Rancho Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Sean Downs, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Rancho Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Summit, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Rancho Christian Eagles challenge Vista del Lago Ravens at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Summit, they will take on Churchill at 4:00 p.m. on April 3.
