Baseball Recap: Waccamaw Find Success

While Waccamaw's win against Philip Simmons wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Warriors won by a run and slipped past the Iron Horses 4-3. The victory was some much needed relief for the Warriors as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Ben Rodenbeck made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Evan Barnett, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Waccamaw was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win got Waccamaw back to even at 10-10. As for Philip Simmons, they now have a losing record of 12-13.

Coming up, Waccamaw will take on Andrews at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellowjackets have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. Philip Simmons does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
