Baseball Recap: Colonial Beach Drifters vs. Mathews Blue Devils
Colonial Beach had lost five straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 6-15 to make it six. They fell just short of the Mathews Blue Devils by a score of 6-5. If the Drifters were looking for revenge after losing 13-12 to the Blue Devils when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

William Christian was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Zachary Papanicolas was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Chance Holmes also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Coincidentally, Colonial Beach and Mathews will both be playing West Point the next time they take the field. The Blue Devils will head out to face the Pointers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Drifters will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on the 24th.
