Softball Recap: Marquette's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Marquette waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Amboy Clippers. That's more bragging rights for the Crusaders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The team relied heavily on Makayla Backos, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Lily Brewer also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Marquette's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. As for Amboy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3-1.

Coming up, Marquette will square off against Princeville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Marquette's pitchers better be ready for this one: Princeville has averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Amboy, they will welcome Dixon at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
