Softball Recap: Donovan Catholic Wins High-Profile Game Against Kingsway

Donovan Catholic faced Kingsway in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Griffins came out on top against the Dragons by a score of 5-2. The Griffins have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Dragons, too.

Gylian Hixenbaugh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sophia Senger, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Olivia Kurth was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Kingsway, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 18-1.
