Basketball Recap: Fountain Hills Skates Past Veritas Prep with Ease

Fountain Hills waltzed into their game on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They breezed by the Veritas Prep Falcons to the tune of 51-14. Given Fountain Hills' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Veritas Prep is ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fountain Hills' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaylee Lewis, who went 7 of 11 on her way to 15 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Those 15 points gave Lewis a new career-high. Kynzi Schaunaman was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards.

Fountain Hills was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Veritas Prep only posted four assists.

Veritas Prep's loss came despite strong showings from Katherine Huse and Quinn Del Duca. Huse posted six points, while Del Duca put up no points and five rebounds.

Fountain Hills has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.6 points per game. As for Veritas Prep, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Fountain Hills didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-23 win against Camp Verde on the 16th. As for Veritas Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 65-38 defeat against Phoenix Country Day on the 15th.
