Baseball Recap: Southern Wayne Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Southern Wayne's offense. They came up short against the South Johnston Trojans on Friday, falling 8-0. If the Saints were looking for revenge after losing 8-3 to the Trojans when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Southern Wayne saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brayden McKee, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Southern Wayne is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7. As for South Johnston, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Southern Wayne will square off against rival Smithfield-Selma at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, South Johnston is set to challenge their familiar foe Hunt at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (South Johnston 3, Hunt 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
